Benue 2027: Lawmaker hopeful Felix Onuh proposes Ogbadibo Education Trust Fund, seeks legislative action
A lawmaker hopeful, Felix Onuh, has unveiled plans to establish an education trust fund aimed at improving school funding and infrastructure in Ogbadibo Local Government Area.
Onuh, who is seeking to represent the constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly in 2027, said the initiative would leverage legislative action to transform education financing and address challenges facing schools in the area.
According to him, Ogbadibo faces significant educational setbacks, including overcrowded classrooms, dilapidated facilities, outdated teaching resources, and limited access to learning materials. He stressed that the situation threatens the future of children and the overall development of the community.
The lawmaker hopeful outlined a multi-pronged approach, including lobbying for increased state and federal funding, proposing targeted educational grants, and fostering partnerships with non-governmental organizations and private sector stakeholders.
He also emphasized the need for transparency in the management of education funds, noting that he would advocate for legislation mandating regular audits and accountability mechanisms to ensure proper utilization of resources.
Onuh further pledged to engage parents, teachers, and community leaders through consultative forums to ensure that education policies reflect local needs.
He said the proposed trust fund and legislative interventions would help provide modern classrooms, qualified teachers, and improved learning resources across schools in the area.
Onuh called on residents to support the initiative, noting that collective action would help reposition Ogbadibo as a hub of educational excellence in Benue State.
