Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, conveyed a strong message on the crucial link between peace and sustainable development during a peace meeting held at Apir, bridging the gap between Mbaivur and Mbasombo communities in Gwer East local government area of Benue state. Speaking through his Special Adviser, Hon. Akombo Benedict, Governor Alia emphasized that peace is the cornerstone for growth and progress in any community.

Addressing the residents gathered at the meeting, the Governor’s adviser lamented the setbacks experienced by both communities due to conflicts and urged them to put aside their differences and embrace peace. He underscored that only through peace can the dividends of democracy, which the Alia-led government is keen to deliver to the Benue people, be effectively realized in these areas.

Leaders from both Mbaivur and Mbasombo communities expressed remorse for the conflicts and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Their commitment to peaceful coexistence was evident in their remarks at the meeting.

Among the notable speakers were the youth leaders from both communities, including Prof. Jonathan Uever, Hon. Joesep Tyungu, Mr. Joseph Nor, and Barr. Vanen Antom.
