Benue-born legislative expert, Rawlins Agada appointed Clerk of the Senate
The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Mr. Rawlins Emmanuel Agada, a seasoned legislative technocrat from Benue State, as the new Clerk of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mr. Agada hails from Ipari Otukpa, Ai-Oodo, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State. His distinguished career in the National Assembly spans decades and includes notable contributions at national, regional, and international levels.
He previously represented Nigeria at the Permanent Secretariat Desk of the Pan African Parliament in South Africa and played key roles in both the Pan-African Parliament and the Interparliamentary Union in Geneva, Switzerland.
A former President of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Mr. Agada was appointed Director of Information and Research at the National Assembly in May 2019. In that role, he championed several reforms, including the digitization of legislative proceedings, restructuring of the press accreditation process, and the launch of the National Assembly New Media Unit.
On June 26, 2023, he was appointed Deputy Clerk (Admin) of the House of Representatives before being redeployed to the Senate in the same capacity. He was later elevated to Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the Senate.
