I did not ask delegates to reject Idoma guber aspirants in 2023 — Abba Moro
The Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has denied allegations that he asked delegates from Okpokwu Local Government Area to reject Idoma governorship aspirants during the 2023 political process in Benue State.
Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District in the Senate, said the allegation was false and intended to incite the people of the district against him.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his media adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, the senator was reacting to claims made in an article by Adokole Elijah, which alleged that an “Okpokwu leader” had instructed delegates to reject Idoma governorship aspirants, including Benson Abounu and Steven Lawani.
According to the statement, although the article did not directly mention Moro’s name, the senator believed he was the target of the allegation.
The statement described the claim as “false, malicious and mischievous,” insisting that Moro never directed delegates to vote against any Idoma aspirant during party primaries or general elections.
“At no time did Senator Moro tell Okpokwu delegates not to support Idoma aspirants in any primaries or general elections,” the statement said.
The senator maintained that he had consistently advocated for the governorship of Benue State to rotate to Zone C.
