The internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Abagena, Makurdi local government area of Benue State was allegedly attacked by herdsmen two weeks ago leaving several people dead and many injured.

The situation further deepens the humanitarian crisis in the camp, hence the intervention of the Parish Priest in charge of St Augustine Catholic Parish Demekpe, Makurdi Diocese, Rev Fr Solomon Ukeyima Mfa.

The Catholic Priest who is well known for extending his hands of fellowship to the IDPs camps in the state monthly, today donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to the Abagena IPDs camp.

While donating to the IDPs today, 3 May 2021 in the camp, Rev Fr Solomon Mfa told the camp inmates that he was pained by the plight of the IDPs in the camp. That having been ejected from their homes and later compared to live in IDP camp, they were still being attacked and killed gruesomely. He prayed for them and encouraged them not to lose hope but still trust in the Lord.

Items donated to the IDPs include food and other household materials such as cartons of Noodles, toilet soaps, detergents, vegetables oil and bags of rice.
