Benue government launches security hotlines amid raising insecurity

In response to the escalating rates of violent crimes in the country, the Benue State Government has unveiled specific contact numbers for the public to share information with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security regarding such incidents.

Colonel Alexander Ashungu (retired), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Strategic Liaison, disclosed these phone numbers on Wednesday in Makurdi. Emphasizing the state’s firm stance against crime, Colonel Ashungu urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities, gatherings, or unauthorized individuals carrying weapons, especially in rural forests, using the provided contact numbers. He highlighted the importance of such reports for thorough investigation and subsequent action.

Colonel Ashungu underscored the Benue State Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and businesses. He reported ongoing efforts that have resulted in the successful rescue of several kidnapped victims, with active pursuit of those responsible for such reprehensible crimes in the state.

Commending Governor Hyacinth Alia for prioritizing security and the preservation of lives, Colonel Ashungu also expressed appreciation for the commendable contributions of the police and armed forces in upholding security and peace within the state.
