Benue guber 2023: Idoma aspirants unite

Idoma people of Benue State, yesterday converged on Otukpo, the traditional headquarters of Idoma nation, to push for governorship position, come 2023.

 

This was, even as, contestants for various positions vowed to support a unity candidacy of Idoma extraction, to ensure the zone clinches to the seat at the 2023 gubernatorial election.

 

The meeting was at the instance of Benue Rebirth Movement (BRM), an umbrella championing the Idoma governorship agenda.

 

With governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly aspirants of Benue South in 2023 from various political parties in attendance; the Idoma people charted the course for projecting a sole candidate for the position of governorship of Benue State, in 2023.

 

The speakers who commended the efforts of BRM so far, all agreed that the time for Benue South to produce the Governor had come and they were ready to make all necessary personal sacrifices and commitments to realise that objective.

 

The cross-partisan meeting, which was attended by all the major Governorship and other aspirants from the area was addressed by the Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu; immediate past Deputy Governor, Chief Steven Lawani, former Senate President, Chief Ameh Ebute; Chief Patrick Ogbu; Dr. Mathias Oyigeya; Prof. Yakubu Ochefu; Chief Bongos Ikwue; Dr. Sam Abba; Mrs Margaret Oga; amongst other personalities from Zone C.

 

Earlier, the National Coordinator of BRM, AVM Monday Morgan (Rtd), called on aspirants into the various positions to remain resolute in their bid to win nominations during their parties’ primaries coming up next year.

 

He challenged all Benue South stakeholders to be undaunted, united and develop the can-do spirit in order to overcome any challenge ahead of them, as individuals and as a nation.

 

“So far, I’m satisfied with the conduct of the campaigns so far, and I call on the aspirants to continue to build bridges across the other two zones in the state.
