1. Benue State House Razed by Hoodlums

The Benue State government has clarified that the house razed by hoodlums in the Gboko area belongs to a relative of the late former governor, Aper Aku, not the governor himself. Reports indicate arsonists attacked the residence, prompting police intervention to rescue the six occupants before the inferno engulfed the property. Deborah Aku, daughter of the late governor, confirmed the rescue.

2. Deputy Speaker Distances from Alleged Assassination Attempt

Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Lami Danladi Ogenyi, has distanced herself from an alleged assassination attempt on the deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese. In a statement by her Press Secretary, Mrs Ogenyi dissociated herself from the incident involving Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State.

3. Renewed Bandit Attacks Claim Lives of Displaced Farmers

Tragedy struck as two farmers, displaced from Umogidi community in Otukpo Local Government Area, were reportedly killed by bandits. Two others were injured, and one abducted in the attack. Despite fleeing their homes due to prior attacks, the victims ventured to their farms when the fatal incident occurred.

4. Benue Links Nigeria Limited Secures Permanent Motor Park in Abuja

Benue State Government’s transport arm, Benue Links Nigeria Limited, has secured a permanent commercial motor park in Abuja. The Kwalika Park, situated in Durumi along Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway, aims to enhance the state’s transport network, offering intra-and inter-state transit services.

5. Calls for Military Base at Border Community

Thomas Acheneje, a community leader, has urged for a military base establishment at Agojeju-Odo, a border community between Benue and Kogi states. This move aims to curb the incessant attacks in the area. Acheneje also appealed to NEMA and Kogi State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials for displaced persons in the Agojeju-Odo community.

6. Senator Akume Urges Benue Youths to Avoid Divisive Politics

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has advised Benue youths to avoid divisive politics propagated by self-serving politicians. Responding to a social media publication aimed at disparaging his person, Senator Akume emphasized the need for youths to steer clear of destructive influences and focus on constructive ventures.
