Benue PDP Primaries: G12 tackles Ochacho Junior, Ottah battles Aida in Enone

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries in Benue State continue today.

So far, about 30 candidates for the party have emerged for the state House of Assembly while about five House of Representatives flagbearers have been named, IDOMA VOICE reports.

Pastor Ojotu Ojema defeated Melvin Ejeh to pick the PDP ticket for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency.

However, results for Otukpo/Ohimini and Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo are still being awaited.

Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo
This is one of the most interesting and tension-soaked elections.
The battle for the soul of Enone is so tensed that a blind man can see it.
The incumbent, Francis Ottah Agbo is battling to return to the Green Chamber with his teeth and nose.
This is because of his fallout with his senior colleague in the Red Chamber, Senator Abba Moro.

Ottah has been on a warpath with Senator Moro for reasons many political observers are yet to phantom.

It is believed that Ottah rode on the wings of Moro to win the PDP ticket and the main election in 2018 and 2019, this claim the former has denied severally.

When both politicians, who are from Enone fell out, Senator Moro settled for Aida Nath Ogwuche from Otukpa as his replacement.

Ottah had claimed on several occasions that the election was between him and Moro and not Aida.
At the moment, the Ozigizaga as Ottah is fondly called is finding it hard, coupled with the fact that statutory delegates are no longer eligible to vote in the ongoing elections.

Aida on the other hand is not having it funny in the media due to Moro’s open support for her.

Many are of the opinion that no matter the differences between him and Ottah, he should have forgiven his junior colleague and helped him scale through.

Gideon Obande, former NANS factional president is also in the race and likely to make a statement.
But political observers have narrowed the race down to Aida vs Ottah.

Another oddity against Ottah at the moment is the fact that he’s not on good terms with the current chairman of his local government – Ado, Hon. James Oche, who is said to be in charge of the ad hoc delegates from the area.
Interestingly, Oche is the campaign DG of Aida.

In Otukpo/Ohimini, Alex Ogbe Enokela, also known as Ochacho Jnr and Godwin Joseph Oche, better known as G12 are testing their pocket and popularity.

Alex crossed over to the PDP in 2021 when the current occupant of the seat, Blessing Onuh pitched her tent with the APC.

Alex, a first timer is having the backing of his billionaire elder brother, Mohammed Adah, also known as Ochacho.
Money, would no doubt play a big role in the election.
