Benue State’s Police Command gets new Commissioner, Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka

The Benue State Police Command hereby announces the assumption of duty by CP. Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka psc(+), who is now the Commissioner of Police for Benue State.

CP. Onyeka, a native of Njaba Local Government Area in Imo State, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) degree in Public Administration from Punjabi University, Chandigarh, Patiala, India (1985), and a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies from Punjabi University, Partiala, India (1987).

Having been enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 3rd March, 1990, as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, CP. Onyeka has served across the nation in various operational, administrative, and investigative capacities. Notable positions he has held include Commander of Operations Smash, Rescue, Festival, and Fire for Fire, all within the Imo State Command. He also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, Abia State Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Imo State Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Zamfara State Command, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Zone 1 Kano State.

His promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police came on 3rd June, 2021, when he was posted as CP In-Charge of Force Communication at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. Prior to his current posting, he served as the Commissioner of Police for Plateau State Command from 4th November, 2021, to 2nd August, 2023.

CP. Onyeka is an esteemed member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Defence Studies Association of India (DSAI).

Taking over from CP. Okoro A. Julius, CP. Onyeka, a diligent and forward-thinking law enforcement officer, has expressed his dedication to safeguarding lives and property within the state.
