Benue: Suspects arrested as police uncover two gun factories in Kwande

Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have discovered two illegal gun manufacturing factories in Guma and Kwande local government areas of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Steve Yabanet, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He said the breakthrough followed credible intelligence on arms production activities in Mbaafa, Adikpo, Kwande LGA.
On January 11, detectives raided a factory in Mbaafa, arresting two suspects identified as Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK-35.” The operatives recovered nine fabricated pistols and an incomplete AK-47 rifle during the search.
A separate operation in Daudu, Guma LGA, led to the arrest of 50-year-old Meme Ihoon, who was identified as the supplier of short arms to kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists in the area. Six dane guns and materials used for gun fabrication were seized from his residence on January 10.
The suspect confessed to producing and selling weapons, according to the police. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals linked to the operations.
