Mrs. Uchechi Kanu, the wife of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has revealed that despite her husband’s continued detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), Igbo politicians, governors, and political figures are diligently working behind the scenes for his release.
During a live program on Radio Biafra, Mrs. Kanu expressed her gratitude to these individuals for their concern and efforts in seeking a peaceful resolution to her husband’s situation. She acknowledged their commitment to securing a roundtable discussion for his release.
“I thank other Igbo politicians, governors, and political office holders who are concerned about the plight of my husband. A lot of these elites are concerned about the unlawful detention of my husband and are working silently to secure a roundtable discussion for his release. I’m thankful to them,” she stated.
Mrs. Kanu specifically appreciated Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South senatorial zone, for facilitating her recent visit to her husband in DSS custody. She recounted the challenges she faced in gaining access to her husband until Senator Ubah intervened.
Recalling the circumstances of her visit, Mrs. Kanu said, “Let me use this opportunity to thank Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who swiftly facilitated my visit to my husband in DSS custody. I thank you, sir.”
Senator Ubah confirmed his involvement in facilitating the visit, acknowledging Mrs. Kanu’s difficulty in visiting her husband. He disclosed that he arranged the visit after Mrs. Kanu approached him for assistance, ensuring she was able to meet with her husband at the DSS facility on April 16, accompanied by Barrister Ejiofor.
