BLOODBATH: 20 killed as gunmen open fire on Muslim faithful in Katsina

Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on a community in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the loss of at least 20 lives and multiple abductions. The attack occurred during the celebration of Maulud, a significant religious event for Muslim faithful.

The assailants, numbering several, struck the unsuspecting residents around 11:05 p.m., throwing the village into chaos and mourning. According to a vigilante member who provided details, the bandits surrounded the location of the Maulud celebration and opened fire on the participants, causing numerous injuries and abducting several individuals who were taken to an undisclosed location. Unfortunately, before security forces could respond to the distress call, the attackers had vanished into hiding. Tragically, the aftermath of the attack revealed 20 casualties within the village.

The police spokesman in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack took place during the Maulud procession. He reported that 18 people were injured and subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. Regrettably, two of the injured individuals did not survive. The authorities are actively investigating the situation in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice
