20-year-old former JAS fighter surrenders to troops in Borno
A 20-year-old former fighter linked to the JAS terrorist group has surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State.
The fighter, identified as Kurso Muhammed, reportedly surrendered around 2:25pm on Sunday, August 23, to troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade at New Abaram Resettlement Village.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the surrender followed sustained intelligence-led operations by troops in the area.
Muhammed has been taken into military custody, where he is undergoing screening and further processing.
Makama said the overall security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops continued to maintain satisfactory morale and operational effectiveness.
