Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped woman and foiled a planned ransom exchange in Kebbi State.

The operation’s acting spokesperson, Col. Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed this in a statement, saying the troops acted on intelligence concerning the planned transaction.

According to Osoba, the victim had been abducted from her farm the previous month, and the troops received credible information about an arrangement for her ransom exchange.

He said troops moved to the location to intercept the transaction, forcing the kidnappers to engage them after detecting their approach.

The troops reportedly overpowered the criminals, forcing them to flee and abandon the hostage.

Osoba said the woman was rescued unharmed and taken to safety before being reunited with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

He added that troops searched the route used by the fleeing criminals to secure the area before returning to their base.

In a separate operation, troops carried out clearance operations and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area without recording any incident.

Osoba reaffirmed the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustaining operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across Kebbi State.

He also appealed to residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist in preventing criminal activities and safeguarding communities.
