BREAKING: Anger erupts in Plateau as residents protest deadly Palm Sunday massacre
Hundreds of residents in Plateau State stormed the streets on Monday, defying the state-imposed curfew, to protest the deadly Palm Sunday attack that claimed multiple lives in Jos North Local Government Area.
The demonstration began at Angwan Rukuba, the epicenter of the attack, and was broadcast live on TikTok, capturing the raw anger and grief of the community. Protesters accused the government of failing to protect citizens and demanded immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as demonstrators chanted slogans condemning recurring violence, insisting that curfews alone are insufficient to safeguard lives.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang reportedly visited the protest site, meeting with residents to address their concerns, amid rising tension in the state.
The tragic Palm Sunday attack, which occurred on March 28, involved heavily armed assailants and left at least ten people dead. Many more were injured, throwing the normally peaceful community into fear and confusion.
