Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has won the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Atiku polled the highest votes to beat Wike, governor of Rivers State, who scored 237 votes to win the keenly contested sole ticket of the opposition party, IDOMA VOICE reports.

Recall that Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal had stepped down for Atiku Abubakar.

Tambuwal cited national interest as reason for his action.

Meanwhile, Wike had earlier vowed to support whoever that will emerge winner of the primaries. 

With this, Atiku will square up against whoever will emerge as candidate from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
