BREAKING: Fresh trouble for Yahaya Bello as court gives new order against him

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has mandated that the charges pertaining to the alleged N80 billion fraud, leveled against former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, be served through his legal representative, Abdulwahab Mohammed.

This order, issued on Tuesday, stems from an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking substituted service on Bello.

Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and lead counsel for the anti-graft agency, presented the application before the court.

Initially reluctant to accept the charges and accompanying evidence, Bello’s lawyer, Abdulwahab Mohammed, was compelled to do so by Justice Nwite, despite his preference for a junior lawyer in his team, AI Musa, to handle the matter.

Bello was absent from Tuesday’s proceedings but was represented by his legal counsel.

Recall that last week, Justice Nwite issued a bench warrant against Bello at the behest of the EFCC, citing his consistent absence from court and evasion of the criminal charges against him.
