Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved a rescheduling of working days for various categories of civil servants and extended the payment of palliatives for public officials for the next two months due to rising transportation costs and economic challenges in the country.

In alignment with Governor Adeleke’s commitment to the welfare of workers and in response to the current economic climate, the Office of the Head of Service issued a circular to announce these changes.

According to the circular, the revised working day schedules for public employees in the state will take effect immediately, unless otherwise directed. However, personnel in critical roles, such as medical staff, security personnel, political office holders, and accounting officials, are exempt from these new arrangements.

“It is essential to note that the specific days each public servant in the aforementioned categories will work will be determined by the Accounting Officers in the respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government,” the circular stated.

Additionally, the governor has authorized the continued payment of previously agreed-upon palliatives to state employees for the next two months while awaiting the implementation of the new minimum wage.

All accounting officers from government ministries, departments, and agencies, including local governments, have been instructed to comply with these new directives.
