BREAKING: INEC declares petition to recall Senator Natasha invalid
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the 10th Senate, has failed to meet the legal requirements.
In a brief announcement on its verified Facebook page Thursday afternoon, INEC said: “The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
The Commission assured that a more detailed statement on the matter would be issued soon.
At the time of reporting, it remained unclear whether the petitioners would be allowed to amend their petition to align with legal provisions or if it would be dismissed entirely.
