The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, has officially flagged off the second phase of the construction and dualization of the Makurdi-Otukpo-9th Mile Road.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday at Apir, near Makurdi.

During the event, Sen. Umahi announced the green light for the construction of a flyover at the Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi, Benue state, emphasizing that these projects align with President Tinubu’s vision for a renewed hope in Nigeria.

Sen. Umahi assured the public of his commitment to constructing concrete roads of uncompromised standards, ensuring optimal quality work.

The projects were initiated following a request by Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, who visited Sen. Umahi’s office seeking support for the construction of a flyover and other road projects in the state.

In response, Gov. Alia expressed optimism that the newly constructed roads would create a conducive environment for economic activities to flourish.

He noted the positive impact on farmers, providing them with improved access to markets, and facilitating easy commuting for the general public.

]Gov. Alia emphasized that the flyover at Wurukum roundabout would enhance the aesthetic appeal of the state capital while alleviating traffic congestion around the foot of the Makurdi bridge.
