BREAKING: Oba Abimbola Owoade crowned 46th Alaafin of Oyo

Oba Abimbola Owoade has been officially crowned as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, succeeding the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who passed away on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83.
The coronation ceremony took place at Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo, with Governor Seyi Makinde leading a distinguished group of dignitaries, including prominent Nigerians.
This significant event occurred less than three years after the passing of the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
Notable dignitaries present at the event included Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, Statistician General of the Federation and CEO of the National Bureau of Statistics; Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, wife of the Oyo State Governor; Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal; Deputy Governor of Osun, Prince Kola Adewusi; Chief of Staff to the Ondo Governor, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa; Oyo Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin; and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, among other high-ranking officials.
Additionally, President Bola Tinubu was represented by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Oba Owoade was presented with the staff and instrument of office on January 13, 2025, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, marking the official start of his reign following the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
