Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday officially presented the Staff of Office to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, confirming his ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The colourful coronation, held at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, drew eminent personalities, traditional rulers, and political leaders from across Nigeria, who gathered to witness the epoch-making event.

Governor Makinde, who cut short his annual leave to attend the ceremony, described Oba Ladoja’s installation as a defining moment for the ancient city, stressing that the throne remains a symbol of unity, culture, and tradition for Ibadan people.

The new Olubadan succeeds Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who passed on July 7, 2025.
