BREAKING: Police recruitment 2023: List of successful candidates out
The Police Service Commission has announced that it has shortlisted 171,956 successful applicants for the upcoming Police recruitment Computer Based Test (CBT) scheduled for March 5th, 2024. This follows the conclusion of credentials and physical screening exercises held across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed these figures. Ani highlighted that the Nigeria Police Force received a total of 288,266 applications for the recruitment of constables shortly after opening the online portal in October 2023. Out of the final tally of 547,774 applications received before the portal’s closure, 188,874 applicants were rejected, with reasons including overage and other criteria.
Ani noted that following a meeting on February 13, 2024, the Police Recruitment Board approved the use of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for conducting the Computer-Based Tests due to JAMB’s established track record in such examinations.
Of the successful applicants, 25,818 were female, and 146,138 were male. Adamawa State recorded the highest number of applicants with 13,780, followed by Kaduna, Bauchi, Benue, and Katsina states respectively. Conversely, Anambra State had the fewest candidates with 343 applicants, followed by Lagos with 504, and Ebonyi with 600.
The statement further emphasized that successful candidates from the Computer-Based Tests would undergo medical examinations before proceeding to training. Dr. Solomon Arase CFR, Chairman of the Commission and former Inspector General of Police, expressed confidence in concluding the recruitment process on time to bolster the ongoing efforts against insurgency and banditry.
Arase also commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting efforts to strengthen and rejuvenate the Police Force, emphasizing the PSC’s commitment to nurturing a citizen-oriented and well-equipped Police Force capable of providing effective leadership in national security.
