BREAKING: Protest breaks out over EFCC’s move to arrest Yahaya Bello over N80.2bn fraud
Youths from Kogi State took to the streets on Tuesday to voice their opposition to the purported plans by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to apprehend former Governor Yahaya Bello on grounds of an alleged N80.2 billion fraud.
The youths disrupted traffic along the Lokoja-Abuja road, drawing attention to their cause.
Under the banners of the Coalition of Civil Society for Democracy and Africa Youths Coalition for Justice, they condemned what they perceived as the anti-graft agency’s witch-hunt against Bello.
Their banners bore messages such as “Nigeria is not a banana republic,” “President Tinubu, call EFCC to order,” “EFCC, stop witch-hunting,” and “Yahaya Bello remains a responsible citizen,” among others.
The groups urged caution in Bello’s trial proceedings, demanding that the EFCC adhere to court orders.
