Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly launched a fresh attack on Mbaivur community in Mbahimin, near the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

According to reports gathered by DAILY POST, the assault began late Saturday night and continued into the early hours of Sunday, targeting Tse Hyiongo, a settlement within the Mbaivur axis.

The prolonged attack sent residents fleeing into the bush as heavy gunfire echoed throughout the community. Eyewitnesses say the onslaught lasted for several hours, yet no security personnel were seen intervening despite the proximity to the military base.

“We were woken by the sound of gunshots. People were screaming and running. Some escaped, but many are still missing,” a terrified resident told DAILY POST.

As of the time of filing this report, casualty figures remain unclear, but local sources describe the situation as dire, with many families still in hiding and properties destroyed.

More details to follow.
