BREAKING: Suspected herdsmen reportedly attack Ankpechi Oglewu community in Benue

Residents of Ankpechi Oglewu in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State are reportedly under attack by suspected armed herdsmen.

A resident of the community, who spoke to IDOMA VOICE via telephone on Thursday morning, alleged that the attackers invaded the community along the Otukpo–Agatu axis, shooting indiscriminately and causing residents to flee for safety.

The source, who was in distress during the call, said he could not immediately confirm whether there were casualties but appealed to security agencies to urgently deploy personnel to the area to prevent further loss of lives.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security authorities regarding the reported attack. Ohimini Local Government Area includes the Oglewu district.
