BREAKING: Tinubu declares state of emergency in Rivers, suspends Fabura, lawmakers

President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to the prolonged political crisis in the region.

In a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, Tinubu announced the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly for six months.

Under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, a state of emergency permits the government to temporarily suspend normal constitutional procedures to restore order. This declaration grants the President authority to implement immediate measures to ensure public safety and stability.
