BREAKING: Worshippers trapped as fire guts Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan
The fire, which started around 9:30 pm on Olohunda Road in the Lagelu Local Government Area, was confirmed by sources on Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses reported that some worshippers had already fallen asleep in preparation for the vigil when the blaze erupted. One witness recalled, “Some people had already fallen asleep when the fire started.”
Another eyewitness described the chaotic situation, saying, “An elderly woman who could barely walk was still inside the church when the fire began.”
The Oyo State Fire Service responded quickly after being alerted by a resident. The agency’s General Manager, Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident but stated that the cause of the fire remains unknown as of the latest update.
Efforts are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage and whether there are any casualties.
