President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) and Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs) in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The announcement was made by Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson of NCS, on Friday morning.

The new appointments include three DCGs: FO Okun, MBA Musa, and A Hamisu, as well as three ACGs: K Olumoh, AB Mohammed, and A Alajogun.

These appointments come after the recent appointment of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs on June 19, 2023, and the retirement of some management members in the Service.

In response to the appointments, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, congratulated the newly appointed officers and encouraged them to strive for greater achievements in the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation.

Additionally, the Senate has urged the Federal Government to ensure the appropriate utilization of the allocated N14.2 billion in the 2022 Budget to construct a state-of-the-art Academy/Training School for the Nigerian Customs Service. The Senate’s Committee on Customs, Excise, and Tariff has been tasked with overseeing the progress of the envisioned One-Stop Shop operational center for the revenue-generating agency.

These developments highlight the government’s efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service and ensure its effectiveness in its crucial responsibilities.
