Buhari certificate: 3 APC members file suits against PMB over alleged false information to INEC

Three Nigerians has approached the federal high court in Abuja asking it to Disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari from participating in the 2019 presidential election.

In the suit filed by Kalu Agu, Labaran Ismaill and Hassy El-kuris they want the court to order INEC to remove Buhari’s name as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2019 election.

They also want the court to refrain Buhari from parading himself as the Presidential candidate of the APC for the 2019 general elections, and to also stop the party from parading Buhari as it’s candidate.

The grouse of the three Plaintifs who claim to be members of the APC averred that President Buhari in an affidavit he deposed to support his INEC form CF001, submitted false information to the INEC on his educational qualification, and should be disqualified from the presidential race in compliance with section 31 subsection (5) and (6) of the electoral act 2010.

They also avarred that President Buhari gave false information on oath when he claimed in his nomination form that he obtained his primary school certificate in 1952 having attended middle school from 1953 to 1956.

And that records have shown that during the period of 1948 to 1956, primary school certificate was only issued upon completion of middle school and not before.

They further deposed that President Buhari claimed to have attended middle school Katsina from 1953 to 1956 and Katsina Provisial secondary School from 1956 to 1961, adding that in the period from 1948 to 1956, the academy calendar of educational institutions commenced in January and terminated in December of every year contrary to the claim of president Buhari .

They therefore want a declaration that Buhari submitted false information regarding his educational qualification to INEC for the purpose of contesting 2019 elections and having submitted false information, should be disqualified from the 2019 presidential race.

Joined in the suit is All Progressive Congress APC, which nominated Buhari for the presidential poll and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed therefore adjourned the suit to January 9, 2019.
