Chairman’s Cup 2021: Samba boys defeats Eupi Tigers 4 -1 in a penalty shootout to lift trophy

Samba Boys of Ojali, on Saturday, emerged as champion of the Chairman’s Cup 2021, hosted by the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Rt. George Alli, after defeating Eupi Tigers in a keenly contested match.

The two gave a good account of themselves and treated the crowd which gathered at the Jesus College Otukpo Field, but could not convert their scoring chances.

After failing to score a goal at the end of regulation time, both teams immediately went into penalties. The atmosphere was charged with palpable tension from officials and fans of both teams.

Samba boys converted all 4 of their penalties; while Eupi Tigers missed 2 out of 4 penalties taken. Samba boys went home with prize money and a giant trophy. Eupi Tigers which came second went home with a trophy and prize gift. The 3rd place trophy went to Upu Forester’s Fc.

The events as expected, the tournament final Witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, including Real Estate Mogul, Philantropist and President of Ochacho Foundation, King Mohammed Odeh Adah; House of Representative hopeful; Alex Ogbe Enokela aka Ochacho Jnr; Super Falcons Player, Alice Ogebe.

Ochacho also announced some cash donation to all the participating team and expressed his willingness to partner with the Council for sports development.

Other dignitaries that graced the occasion are: Dominic Iorfa, former Super Eagles player and Vice Chairman, Lobi Star Football Club, Makurdi; Mr. Terrence Kuanum, Author and Security Expert; Hon. Mathias Aende SSA on Media to the Governor; Hon. Isaac Mtom, SSA on Community Relations and Chairman, Nigerian Youth Congress, Benue State Chapter; Hon. Comrade Enoch Bemshima Ortese, SSA on New Media and former National Union of Benue State Students (NUBES), Lobi Stars Assistant coaches and former players, members of Otukpo Local Government Council Exco and Councilors from Otukpo LG, journalists and sports writers, including Wazobia Wakaabout.
