The Super Eagles of Nigeria triumphed in dramatic fashion on Saturday evening, edging past Jamaica 5–4 on penalties to claim the 2025 Unity Cup at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, England.

The pulsating encounter ended 2–2 in regulation time. Nigeria struck first in the 9th minute through Moses Simon, who found the net from close range. Jamaica hit back almost instantly as Kaheim Dixon slotted home a low cross from Cephas following a dazzling run down the flank.

In the second half, Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria back in front in the 53rd minute with a precise left-footed strike from the edge of the area. But Jamaica responded once more, with Jonathan Russell tapping in another delivery from the influential Cephas in the 64th minute.

With the scoreline deadlocked at full time, the match proceeded to penalties. Nigeria kept their composure, converting their first four spot kicks through Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Tolu Arokodare.

Jamaica’s hopes were dashed when Atkinson fired their fourth attempt against the crossbar. Uche Chriantus stepped up to bury Nigeria’s final penalty, sealing a 5–4 victory in the shootout.

The victory marks Nigeria’s second Unity Cup title, adding to their maiden triumph in the inaugural edition held in 2004.
