Condolence register opened for Benue APC in Otukpo

In the Benue South Senatorial District (Zone ‘C’), a condolence register has been opened for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The register is placed right in front of the palatial mansion of a top leader of the opposition party in the area who only recently went to meet with Governor Samuel Ortom in the People’s House, Makurdi.

Placed before the register is a miniature coffin with the inscriptions boldly written over it: PLEASE SAVE BENUE SOUTH APC FROM DEATH, with the names JOHN OCHOGA, SIMON SHANGO, JACK TILLEY GYADO also written there possibly as among the culprits being fingered in the travails of Benue APC.

This development is evidently a continuation of the protests trailing the choice by a section of the Benue APC of Sam Ode as Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party for the 2023 elections.

Former Senate President, Chief Ameh Ebutte; former Agriculture Minister,Chief Audu Ogbe; Retired General Lawrence Onoja; former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Alhaji Usman Abubakar aka Young Alhaji, and a host of others had only last week launched vehement protestation to the choice of Sam Ode as Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party.

The choice of Sam Ode is believed to have been made by leader of Benue APC, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, but is being rejected as having been done without consultation with the party in Benue South.

The condolence register is a continuation of the protests by leaders and members of the APC in Benue South against what they see as impunity and dictatorship in the party taken too far.
