Benue APC condemns ex-chairman Agada over remarks against Alia

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State has condemned remarks by its former state chairman, Austin Agada, against Governor Hyacinth Alia and two party leaders.

Agada reportedly made the comments during an appearance on TVC News’ Politics Tonight.

The party said Agada made derogatory remarks about Alia, Moses Ternenge, an APC leader in Kwande, and Livinus Tsar, a party stakeholder in the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency.

It described the remarks as irresponsible and politically divisive. The APC also rejected comments about the backgrounds of Ternenge and Tsar, saying their humble beginnings did not diminish their contributions to the party and society.

The party challenged Agada to provide evidence for his claim that individuals around Alia control the governor.

It also disputed Agada’s allegation that he sold his Abuja property to support Alia’s 2023 campaign and was not compensated.

According to the APC, any legitimate financial or contractual claim should follow the appropriate legal or administrative channels rather than a television programme.

The party said Agada’s decision not to support Alia’s 2027 campaign was his personal political position and should not be presented as an assessment of the governor’s administration.

The Benue APC said its leadership remains focused on strengthening the party’s structures and preparing for the 2027 general elections.

It urged aggrieved members and stakeholders to pursue dialogue and reconciliation, saying personal grievances should not undermine the party’s unity.

The statement, signed by Benedict Yawe, the APC state publicity secretary, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal reconciliation and strengthening its structures across Benue State.
