Court orders arrest of former Benue varsity lecture

A Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the detention of a former lecturer of the Benue State University, BSU, Dr. Mkor Aondona Donatus in police custody.

The Chief Magistrate, R.S Iorshe gave the order on Tuesday while ruling on a motion exparte filed by the Commissioner of Police, Benue State.

The Chief Magistrate ordered that the sacked lecturer be kept in the custody of the police for 14 days to enable the police complete their investigation.

She further ordered that at the expiration of 14 days the police should report back to court the findings of their investigation.

The order also states that if the investigation is incomplete after 14 days, the Police can do the needful and adjourned the matter to November 14,2022, for further mention.

Mkor is under investigation for alleged cyber stalking, terrorism and other offences.

The sacked lecturer had on September 8,2022, in a Facebook comment said that a suspended priest, Hyacinth Iormen Alia, who is the disputed governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State,once prayed for the said Jennifer Alaaga and the priest personally confessed to him long time ago that he(Alia) once healed Jennifer of intractable and highly complicated staphylococcus and gonorrhea infection that ravaged her v***** when no known orthodox medication could cure her.

Feeling defamed, Alaaga filed a direct criminal complaint at the State Headquarters of the Nigerian Police in Makurdi against the former lecturer Mkor.
