The Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Edison Ehie, faces an arrest warrant issued by the Federal High Court Abuja for his alleged role in the arson at the State House of Assembly.
Ehie, who also served as the immediate past Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, is implicated alongside five other individuals based in Port Harcourt for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
Justice Emeka Nwite, in a judgment, ordered the arrest of Edison Ehie and the other suspects, namely Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter (also known as Rambo).
The arrest order was granted on Wednesday as part of an ex-parte application presented by the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The application relied on the provisions of sections 37, 113, 114, 84, and 184 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, as well as section 35 of the 1999 Constitution and section 32 of the Police Act 2020.
