Ebonyi Gov suspends 87 aides for 1- month without pay over missed official function
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has ordered the suspension of 87 government officials for failing to attend a crucial government function.
The affected officials include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.
According to a statement released Monday night and signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, the suspended officials are to proceed on a one-month working suspension without pay. The statement emphasized that the suspension takes immediate effect and that the affected persons are prohibited from signing any official documents during the suspension period.
“All the listed government functionaries are to proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for their failure to attend an important government function,” the statement read.
Commissioners have been directed to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries, while permanent secretaries will temporarily relinquish their roles during the period.
Uzor stated that Governor Nwifuru remains committed to enforcing discipline and ensuring that all public office holders demonstrate full commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their duties to the people of Ebonyi State.
