Egbin Power clinches victory in 5th edition of Saharalympics games

The 5th edition of the Saharalympics Games witnessed an exhilarating display of glamour, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, with Egbin Power Plc emerging as the champion in the competition organized among all entities of the energy conglomerate, Sahara Group.

Egbin Power, a GenCo, celebrated its second consecutive championship title, securing the highest number of gold medals in the keenly contested games, which featured five entities – Asharami Energy, Ikeja Electric, Egbin Power, Asharami Synergy, and Sahara Group Limited.

The finals, held at the University of Lagos Sports Complex, saw the Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, expressing his excitement over the team’s victorious performance. Bounour credited the GenCo’s success to teamwork, dedication, and consistent preparation by the staff.

“Our emergence as Champions in this 5th edition of Saharalympics proves that our commitment to being the best at what we do is our way of life at Egbin Power. We are constantly on top of our performance both on the job and the recreational activities that form part of our work-life balance,” said Bounour.

The CEO dedicated the victory to the management and entire staff of Egbin Power, emphasizing the company’s focus on work-life balance culture. He praised all the staff who participated in the games, commending their courage and representing Egbin Power with pride.

At the finals, Egbin Power showcased its dominance by winning various events, including the 100 meters female and male, 200 meters male, and Ping Pong race. The GenCo secured a total of 11 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals.

Saharalympics is a biennial games organized for Sahara Group’s employees across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The 5th edition featured a wide range of games, including football (male and female), volleyball, basketball, lawn table tennis, table tennis, Chess, Scrabble, Draft, Ayo, and track and field events.
