Emma Akuma, an indigene of Benue State has spent almost three months in detention without a court order or trial until he was eventually arraigned at the Federal High Court for charges bordering on terrorism, sedition, criminal intimidation of the President, and threat to life of Buhari.

The court denied his bail application, effectively confining Akuma to detention of seven months now and still running.
According to activist, Solomon Semaka, Akuma was doing his internship with National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDA,C as a pharmacist, before he was detained by the Nigeria police.
He wrote, “Someone tweeted a rethoric, what anyone would do if they had one million US dollars..?
He responded” he would hire snipers from RUSSIA to kill Buhari and Kyari.”
“Now, he has been charged with terrorism, intimidation , treason and lots more.
“Why it is true that he didn’t show restraint in his manner of expression, the way the security agencies are handling it, is also totally unacceptable.
IDOMA VOICE recalls that Former Presidential aspirant and leader of Revolution Now Group, Omoyele Sowore, recently called on the President Muhammadu Buhari, and the police to release him at once, after a Lagos court adjoined the case hearing of Akuma who has been in detention for months without trial.
Akuma’s continuous detention has also sparked a social media outcry in his home state of Benue.
An online user wrote “First, that guy merely responded to a rethoric.
“Nobody who plans to kill the president goes on Twitter..
“This is a guy who has not even gone to the airport in his life…to board a plane outside the shores.. if he had a past history of traveling to Russia or other countries. or a history of crime…it would be different.
“The security agencies also know that, there’s nothing beyond those childish words…
“They cannot find anything outside those petty but grievous expressions..
“They should release the guy to continue with his studies and possibly withdraw the case.
“Emma Akuma’s tweets cannot become an end point for our security to prove they’re protecting the president.

“Meanwhile in been our brothers keepers, we should join to make appeal for intervention on the matter.”
