End SARS: Dino Melaye tells Buhari how to end protest

Sen. Dino Melaye, the former representative of the Kogi West senatorial district at the Nigerian Senate, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari on how to end the fresh #ENDSARS protest.

Melaye who spoke via his Twitter page said that only justice, fairness, consideration, and cooperation can lead to eternal peace.

Further stating that protest is an inalienable right, Melaye who pointed out that force could only protect in emergency wrote: “My advice to President Buhari on threats to Endsars protesters. Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration, and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace. Protest is an inalienable right.”

It will be recalled that the #ENDSARS protesters had on Monday returned to the streets to continue their agitation.

Reacting to the development, President Buhari in a statement warned that any act of “hooliganism” behind peaceful protest will be dealt with to ensure peace and stability.

The second phase of the #EndSARS was to demand the release of all protesters detained following the first phase.

They also want restrictions on all accounts of #EndSARS leaders at the instance of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lifted.

Meanwhile, officers of the Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Army have been deployed to strategic locations in the state over the planned second wave of EndSARS protest.

The protest which initially started in October attracted the attention of the international community after men of the Nigerian army allegedly opened fire on the peaceful #EDNSARS protesters.
