‘Enough is enough’ – CDS declares war on Benue attackers

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has vowed that the military will go after those responsible for the recent deadly attacks in Benue State, declaring that the era of waiting for attackers to strike is over.
During a visit to Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area, General Musa said it was time for a strategic shift, promising to confront the assailants head-on and chase them back to wherever they came from.
“Enough is enough. This is our country, and we will not give it up for anything,” he said. “We will take the battle to them, rather than wait to be attacked again.”
General Musa, who condemned the killings, described the violence as “one death too many” and sympathised with the government and people of Benue State, especially the bereaved families and affected communities.
The CDS noted that he would immediately meet with commanders of various security formations to redesign their approach to ending the sustained attacks and killings in the state.
“We are reviewing our strategies. From here, I will meet with my commanders. This issue has lingered too long. We must now look inward, address betrayal within the ranks, and identify those supplying information to the attackers,” he stated. “The nature of these attacks shows they were targeted, which strongly suggests insider involvement.”
He revealed ongoing discussions with traditional rulers, community leaders, and local authorities to rebuild trust and cooperation, adding that everyone must play a part in restoring peace.
“We’ve implemented measures in other parts of the country and seen results. Benue will not be an exception. I assure Nigerians, not just in Benue, that we are committed to fulfilling the mandate given by Mr President to restore peace and security.”
General Musa also urged the youth and citizens not to lose hope, assuring them of the military’s determination to bring an end to the violence.
“We always receive reports that these attackers cross in from neighboring areas. We will go after them and ensure they have no place to hide. This madness must stop. This country belongs to us all, and we must defend it together,” he said.
