‘Enough is enough’ — Pastor Adefarasin condemns Benue massacre, calls for justice

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has strongly condemned the recent massacre in Benue State, describing the killings as heartbreaking, inhumane, and a national disgrace.

In a heartfelt statement released after the deadly attack on Yelewata village in Guma Local Government Area, where over 200 lives were reportedly lost, the renowned cleric expressed deep sorrow and urged urgent national reflection and bold, collective action.

“There’s a grief that lingers when lives are taken so senselessly,” Adefarasin said. “What happened in Yelewata on the night of June 13th is both tragic and devastating. Families were locked in their homes and set ablaze. Children woke up to silence. Mothers are still searching for sons. At least 100 Nigerians were killed. Dozens remain missing. Many are wounded and without access to medical care.”

He stressed that the nation cannot afford to remain indifferent in the face of such cruelty, warning that indifference to injustice is a threat to national unity.

“This is not who we are meant to be. A nation that shrugs at such injustice risks being consumed by it,” he said. “To the people of Benue, your pain matters. Your lives matter. We pray for healing, for restoration, and for true justice, not in words, but in action.”

Addressing Nigeria’s leadership, Pastor Adefarasin issued a clear moral charge: “To our leaders, our custodians, and our conscience as a people: this is not the time to look away. When one part of our nation bleeds, the whole must feel it. Enough is enough.”

His message comes as outrage and grief continue to spread across the country, following renewed waves of violent attacks in Benue State.
