EPL: Arteta gives injury update on Bukayo Saka
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka did not sustain a serious injury during the international break.
The Arsenal winger was absent from England’s win over Finland after being substituted in the Three Lions’ defeat to Greece, prompting concerns over his fitness.
Fearing a potential long-term injury, the Gunners were initially worried about Saka’s condition.
However, Arteta has indicated that the 23-year-old is likely to be available for Arsenal’s upcoming match against Bournemouth this weekend.
“It is not a serious injury,” Arteta said at his press conference on Friday as echoed by The Evening Standard.
“He is evolving really well. We are hopeful. We have a training session this afternoon.”
Saka has been ever-present for Arsenal this season, contributing three goals and seven assists across all competitions.
Arteta’s squad is set to embark on a demanding schedule, with seven matches in 22 days, beginning with Saturday’s trip to the South Coast to face Bournemouth.
