Former Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro, has turned down an offer to manage Turkish club Kayserispor.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Peseiro engaged in discussions with the struggling Süper Lig side but ultimately declined the opportunity to take charge of the team.

The 64-year-old has been without a club since March 2024, when his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired.

With Peseiro opting out, Kayserispor have moved to appoint Bosnian coach Sergej Jakirović as their new manager. Jakirović is set to sign a one-and-a-half-year deal with the club.

Kayserispor are currently in turmoil, grappling with a FIFA-imposed transfer ban that prevents them from registering new players for the next three transfer windows. The club is also facing severe financial difficulties and has endured a woeful run of five matches without a victory—suffering four defeats and managing just one draw.

The Anatolian Stars sit precariously in 17th place on the Turkish Süper Lig table, with only 16 points to their name.
