Over the weekend, reports went viral that Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayo Balogun, also known as Wizkid, has thrown his support behind the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu.

Wizkid in the viral report was claimed to have given his personal view on how people can live together whether they are Christians or Muslims.

The report, which was first shared by popular lawyer, Abbas Onoja, claimed the singer said this in an online interview.

He, however, did not mention the name of the platform which granted the interview.

The singer was quoted as saying, “One thing that has helped me in being who I am today is living in a house where my mum is a Christian and my dad is a Muslim and they never for once had an argument about the religion. They never argued about what the kids wanted to do; my dad would be like, do whatever you want.
“If you want to go to the church, go to the church, if you want to go to the mosque go there. All I understood was that love was the only thing that kept them together for so long. That has really helped me in the way I see life, that we just need to spread more love, like that’s all, that’s it.”

VERIFICATION
A quick search by IDOMA VOICE on the above subject did not yield any corresponding result.

A check on the singer’s social media handles shows that he’s only busy promoting his forthcoming shows.

The last time Wizkid spoke about the government was in 2020 when he described Buhari as an old man.

VERDICT: It is false, Wizkid did not endorse Tinubu.
