A 49-year-old man has been arrested by the Edo State Police for allegedly beating his 15-year-old son to death in Uhe community, Igueben Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the suspect is also accused of secretly burying his son’s body within the family compound. The incident was reported to authorities after credible information was received, prompting a police response on December 6, 2025.

Ikoedem explained that the preliminary investigation revealed that the man struck his son with a stick on the evening of December 5, around 7:00 p.m., leading to the teenager’s death. The suspect is also alleged to have dug a grave within the compound and buried the body.

The police were aided in their investigation by the suspect’s 82-year-old mother, who is also the boy’s grandmother. She provided valuable information that led to the discovery of the grave. Following standard procedures, the police exhumed the body, took photographs, and recovered the stick believed to have been used in the assault.
