Fire destroys Mazda bus at mechanic workshop in Ibadan
A Mazda bus was destroyed in a fire outbreak on Monday morning at a mechanic workshop near Alarere Central Mosque, Sawmill area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident, which occurred around 8:27 a.m., affected only the bus with registration number KWL 943 ZA (Abuja), while other vehicles and properties in the workshop were not damaged.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday.
He said firefighters were deployed immediately after receiving a distress call and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other vehicles.
“Our men swiftly responded and restricted the fire to only one vehicle. A total of 48 buses were at the scene, but only one was affected,” Akinwande said.
He added that the fire was completely extinguished and the workshop owner was advised on measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
