In the early hours of Monday, a devastating accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan highway in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of four lives. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the fatal crash took place at approximately 12:45 am.

According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun, a total of 21 individuals were involved in the accident, comprising 13 adult males and eight adult females. Among them, three sustained injuries—one male and two females—while the four fatalities were adult males.

The accident involved a luxury bus with registration number ACA533ZP, which collided with another vehicle lacking a visible registration number. Excessive speed, leading to a loss of control, is suspected to be the cause of the tragic crash.

The injured victims received medical attention at Famobis Hospital, while the deceased were transported to the Idera morgue.

Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, described the incident as preventable if necessary precautions had been taken and basic traffic rules followed. He urged motorists to exercise prudence in their speed, particularly at night when visibility is reduced.

Uga expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and encouraged them to contact the FRSC Mowe unit Command for additional information about the accident.
