Full list of 47 Unity Colleges shut down by FG over security threats
The Federal Government’s directive ordering the immediate closure of 47 Federal Unity Colleges has intensified concerns over the rising insecurity affecting several parts of the country.
The shutdown, which was approved by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, followed intelligence alerts indicating possible threats to students and staff.
The circular conveying the order was signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education, who directed all principals to comply immediately.
According to the document, the affected schools in the North-West zone are FGGC Minjibir, FTC Ganduje, FGGC Zaria, FTC Kafanchan, FGGC Bakori, FTC Dayi, FGC Daura, FGGC Tambuwal, FSC Sokoto, FTC Wurno, FGC Gusau, FGC Anka, FGGC Gwandu, FGC Birnin Yauri, FTC Zuru, FGGC Kazaure, FGC Kiyawa and FTC Hadejia.
In the North-East region, the colleges marked for closure include FGGC Potiskum, FGC Buni Yadi, FTC Gashua, FTC Michika, FGC Ganye, FGC Azare, FTC Misau, FGGC Bajoga, FGC Billiri and FTC Zambuk.
The North-Central zone is affected through the shutdown of FGGC Bida, FGC New-Bussa, FTC Kuta-Shiroro, FGA Suleja, FGC Ilorin, FGGC Omu-Aran, FTC Gwanara, FGC Ugwolawo, FGGC Kabba, FGGC Bwari, FGC Rubochi and FGGC Abaji.
In the South-West, the circular ordered the closure of FTC Ikare Akoko, FTC Ijebu-Imusin, FTC Ushi-Ekiti and FTC Ogugu
